I am wishing this camera into my life.

This all stems from a previous visit of a new friend and artist of VJ LOOPS.
I have had the unique opportunity to study under a visual artist/photographer named Dan Talson, you might now him by his moniker VJ Dubassy. Dubassy(Dan)ranked number 11 in DJ Mags top 20 VJ poll last year.
I invited Dan to Valencia, Spain for "Las Fallas"Festival during March. I also extended the invitation to performances at Club Space. Despite the poor turnout we still managed to have a good time. I think the festival was more important than clubbing.
During the 12 day visit Dan and I explored the town shooting footage with his Canon 350D. This was where I actually got a chance to see his technique for creating visuals. Dan showed me the different lenses and settings he uses for different applications. We did some day and night shoots on different locations around Valencia. After a days shoot we would head back to the studio(my apartment) and process the images into animations. Dan shot with his camera mostly and I followed him around with my Nikon Coolpix 4300. Believe me, you can really see the difference between 4 and 8 megapixels. Hence the reason for me wanting the new Canon 400D, 10 MEGA-SUPER-ULTRApixel camera!!!!
Dan is also one of our premiere artists at VJ LOOPS. We signed Dan on for a few reasons. First, both Solly and I like his work. Second, because he is well respected in the industry. Third, because he's a nice guy. I can't think of any reason for not wanting to work with him.
So this week you will be able to see some of the visual footage that Dan took in Valencia. It will be available in HD, PAL, NTSC, and VJ friendly resolutions.

Just finished the second weekend of Space.
Friday night consisted of me driving a hydraulic lift to install a second projector from the ceiling and running composite cables to hook up my Edirol v4 video mixer. The visual went well and I got paid. :)
On Saturday I ran into a few problems with the installation and my set was cut short by 4 hours. Things are still not clear as far as the installations go. Who's in charge? Who are the technicians? I will have to go in during the week to re-align the projectors due to the circus acts they had in on Saturday night. So I guess I am a technician now as well. They donīt seem to be too concerned about the visuals.

I had mentioned my concerns about the placements of the rope and silk for the circus acts. My supervisor told everytime that I shouldnīt worry and that everything was going to be fine. Well turns out at 4am after they finished their routine they bumped both projectors. Luckily there was no serious damage. Just an alignment problem. Oh well at least I get another chance to drive the hydraulic lift which btw in Spain you don't need a license to operate. I took a 5 min crash course from some crazy electrician who ran the vga cables. His name was Esteban and it appeared that he was high on something. His sweater reminded me of something the French Foreign Legion would wear.

After the night winded down I worked my way through the corridors of the upper levels of Space. I noticed this on the floor as soon as I went up the stairs.

Seeing a few drops of blood is no big deal. But working my way down to the office to get paid creeped me out a little. There was a obvious trail of blood all the way there. Hmmm I wonder what happened. Talking to security along the way I found out that a patron had a altercation with our security and the patron broke the nose of the security guard. All in a nights work. Just imagine this club has only been open 3 days out of the two weeks.
until next time........

Here's a short mashup of clips with some audio tossed on top. Sorry for the quick edit and low quality. My DV camera busted and I couldn't record. I only have this low quality digi cam video.

What can I say? I am extremely happy with my new residency. Finally a job I can write home about. This tops all the residencies I have ever had. Not only is the pay great but I'm center stage with the DJ. Last week the vibe was massive with from what my boss brags about, a head count of about 7000 party people. He was really satisifed with the visuals and I have many people to thank for that. So some shout outs are in order.
Thanks to:
Ana Villanueva-for all the love, support, and killer Macromedia animations.
