31 May 2008 VJ Kyle Lyons and DJ Pascal Kleiman at PACHA!!!!    2008-05-21 16:19:52

Some photos from La Riviera in Madrid    2008-05-07 21:19:46
Last month I played in Madrid with DJ Pascal Kleiman. This was my first set using LED screens so I made sure to have some lower rez content to mix during my set. While I was there I snapped some pictures before, during and after my set.

I was surprised to see the room transformed from my previous pre set up visit for the sound and video check with Pascal. Empty and with the lights on makes it feel like a big vacant warehouse. Packed with over 3000 people, a bumping sound system, lights, projectors and LED screens gave it a magical touch for the ears and eyes.

Pictured above was my current setup at the time and my first live performance using the MAC Book Pro that I had just recently bought from a VJ friend in the states. I had installed Motin Dive Tokyo with its bundled controller and did some warm up checks at the studio and at the venue before the party. I had also brought the V4 and attached a Sony PAL minicam with a fish eye lens that I aimed at Pascal. For extra precautions I brought a DVD player with built in monitor that can be used for backup in the event of a hardware or software crash. Exciting stuff...I know :P

But as you can see my Canon 400D came in handy as well. I took the chance to shoot some images for later use in my still/stop motion animation projects. Dancer footage is always a welcome edtion to my collection. I heard people say its cliche...SO WHAT!

Pascal soon went on and I took the time to surprise him with a special happy birthday animation created by Ana Villanueva. You can see it in the foreground on the screen. Imagine playing for 3000 people on your birthday. How cool is that?

Like I mentioned before this was my first set with LED but I was prepared. Close up it looks like a bunch of dots but when your out in the crowd the image looks really good. Stick with lower rez stuff and it will look fantastic.

This gig was excellent. The promoters and venue were top notch and super professional. I am looking forward to returning to peform again.

Kyle Lyons will be performing visuals along side his musical counterpart DJ Pascal Kleiman. The two have been long time friends since 1999 and have performed side by side as an audio visual duo. Lately Pascal has been making waves in national Spanish tv news. Channel 4 has a contest similiar to "Got Talent" called "Tienes Talenteo". Pascal is in the semi finals for his DJ abilities.

On February 14th 2008 the two will be in Madrid for the screening of a documentary with Pascal called "HÉROES" directed by Angel Loza. Just a note to friends, family and other people that read this, if any.

A shot of my fiber optic Christmas tree that I bought. I added a little zoom effect with a twist of the wrist and a 1 second delay.

I would like to say Merry Christmas to my family and friends and hope that everyone has a nice holiday.

It's been awhile since my last confession. So here's the latest and greatest. VJ Loops content has poured in and we have a few new artists. Take a look when you have time.
VJ LOOPS.

The Canon I bought recently is amazing. A great camera that takes incredible pictures. Recently I bought a timer to go with it and I have finally been able to create the stop motion loops that I have been thinking about over the last few years and in HD.

Here are some still samples of some loops that I have been working on.

You can download the flash previews HERE

Recently I have also adopted a kitten. There's an interesting story behind it.

The kitten had fallen in a drainage pipe and was rescued by my girlfriends co worker Amparo. I was told the kitten was stuck there for a day and a half meowing from distress, awwww. Amparo used some yarn covered in some paté lowered into pipe to try and fish the kitten out. Sure nuff the kitten grabbed on to that like a fish on a hook. She was able to free the kitten from the pipe and bring her to a vet. Amparo knowing that my girlfriend lovessssss cats had offered the kitten to us. I hesitated at first but the story of her rescue won me over. This creature is a survivor and doesnt give up. An amazing quality that I admire. So after adopting the cat and before I even seen it I had named her Pipa which translates to pipe in Spanish. A few pictures....

Notice the prominent "P" in her coat. Pipa the newest member of VJ Loops.
